Does the Previous Event Tell Us Anything About the Next One?

Part 1 of 3

If we count vowels in a passage, we learn how common they are. We do not yet know how they are arranged. A vowel may be more likely after a consonant than after another vowel, so treating every letter as an independent draw would discard useful structure.
